You will be able to purchase asset-backed securities (“Securities”) – financial instruments that are backed by underlying loans issued to the borrower, who may be a consumer or a business. The return on the Securities is a fixed interest rate and is applied to the amount invested by the investor that amortizes over the lifetime as the underlying loans are being repaid.

European peer-to-peer lender Twino has launched a new social investment product. It allows Twino investors to donate to causes rather than earn interest and the platform will match the amount raised. The first social fundraising project is for Latvia’s Children’s Clinical University Hospital, allowing young patients to be provided with convenient and safe remote consultations.

Twino works with different originators who publish their loans in the marketplace of the platform, but unlike Mintos, Grupeer, Lenndy and other Latvian platforms, Twino does NOT reveal who their originators are. In any case, it should be noted that it is Twino who is directly responsible for paying the guarantees of repurchase and guaranteed payments in case it is necessary in each operation.

In Twino there are two kinds of protection in Secured Loans:

On the one hand loans have class "T" with the Buyback Guarantee type MINTOS to which many are accustomed only have to spend 60 days from the first delay payment to activate.

On the other hand we have the "PG" class loans. In this type of secured loan, even if the borrower does not pay, Twino will continue paying us the monthly payment as if nothing had happened.

At Twino we can sell any of our loans in the secondary market at any time . It does not matter the state in which they are and the rating they have: we simply go to MY INVESTMENTS, and from the list of loans we press the SELL button on the loan we want to sell.

We will only have to set the price and wait until Twino places the loan to one of the other investors based on their profile.

Twino allows us to invest both MANUAL and AUTOMATIC (Autoinvest) from 10 euros per operation. It is not always easy to find loans manually in Twino, so the most common thing is to configure Auto-invest and automatically invest in this platform.

Twino works with one of the leading banks in the Baltic and Nordic countries such as SWEDBANK. To deposit funds in our account, Twino will provide us with an account number in this bank and a concept to add to the transfer.

Twino does not charge any commission for this transfer and normally in a couple of days maximum we will have the money ready to invest.

Over the last two years their financial results were poor. However, following a restructuring, and the closure of unsuccessful locations, Twino reported much better financial results for 2018. Profits went from a €13m loss, to a €4m profit. The balance sheet position also improved. Hopefully this improving trend can be continued.

You may buy item on Secondary market hoping to get good profit. There are always people leaving the site and selling their investments, some people even sell things at a discount when they’re delayed. It does however take some time, because you have to do the purchases manually.

When a loan with the BuyBack guarantee defaults (has a delay of 30 days), it is bought back by TWINO, returning all funds invested in the loan plus interest for the 30 days of delay. Thus, you have to look for new investments in order to make your money work. The difference with the Payment Guarantee is that the loan is not bought back after the 30th day of delay. The loan status changes to “Defaulted”, and you are no longer able to resell the shares, however you keep receiving monthly repayments of principal and interest in accordance with the original loan schedule until the loan is fully repaid.
